In addition to maintaining your jewelry's natural shine, you can keep it wearing well by following these suggestions.
- Have your jeweler clean and inspect your jewelry at least every
six months, looking for loose settings, faulty links, worn prongs, etc.
Ask your jeweler how to clean items properly at home.
- A prong that is loose, worn, or catches on fabric may cause a stone
to fall out of its setting. If you suspect a problem, have your jeweler
check the item immediately.
- When not wearing your jewelry, place each item in a separate soft
compartment. If cluttered together, jewelry can become tangled or scratched,
even diamonds.
- Avoid heavy blows to your diamond. Even though it's among the hardest
of all materials, diamonds can chip if struck at the right angle.
- Insure your jewelry to assure that you can replace it if it is lost,
stolen, or damaged beyond normal wear and tear.
- We recommend not wearing your jewelry while sleeping as this can cause
unknown damage.
- Any item that you wear daily or even on occasion does require regular
maintenance. We recommend that you bring it in to be checked and cleaned as
often as possible so that Nelson Coleman can best serve you.
