Mark Schonwetter purchased the company from the Lieberfarb family in 1971. There was only one way to capture the brightness, the splendor, the light of French Impressionism. And that was to create a diamond that totally broke away from all the traditional rules of diamond cutting. First we started with the actual shape. It is unlike any you've ever seen before. It has rounded corners, but is neither round nor oval. It has four sides, but is neither square nor rectangle. It is a shape so elegant, so distinguished, that we had to create a whole new category. Self taught, intuitive and passionate she soon earned a reputation as a dealer with a discerning eye. She often showed her two young sons the fine pieces she had acquired. At present the firm employs a dedicated team of forty, of which thirty are accomplished skilled craftsmen who carry out in house every single stage of the production, under Robert's management. If only two words were permitted to describe Lucie Campbell 's jewellery they would be: "Exquisite workmanship". The company is rare among traditional jewellers in that it maintains high level of wholesale and manufacturing operations in addition to its retail store, opened in 2002, at 26 New Bond Street London.
